Rev. Dr. Jeffery A. Williams

Biography

The Reverend Doctor Jeffery A. Williams, a native of Englewood New Jersey, whose forward-thinking ideas are helping to reshape the social and spiritual landscape of communities in Rhode Island and abroad. He continued his studies at Brown University and in 1985 graduated with a B.A. in Social Environmental Analysis, a concentration he personally designed. In May of 2007, Reverend Williams received his Doctorate of Ministry Degree with a concentration in Urban Complex Settings from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Hamilton, MA), with a 3.95 grade point average. His completed dissertation is entitled: “Urban Leadership Development Through the Practical Truth University”: A Case Study in the Intentional Role and Practice of Metanoia for Personal and Community Transformation. Dr. Williams will graduate with a Master's in Public Administration at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in June of 2010.

His commitment to helping others understand the direct connection between principle and practice led to the founding of the Cathedral of Life Christian Assembly in 1999.  Under Dr. Williams’ leadership, partners now own an historic church building located in Olneyville Square neighborhood of Providence. As Chief Empowerment Officer, Dr. Williams oversees a congregation that has grown from nine to well over 800 hundred attendees.  Driven by the God-given mandate to “Empowered People, Changing the World," he has focused the ministries of the Cathedral on three guiding principles: personal devotion to Christ, wholistic prosperity, and systematic community transformation. This mandate has led him to establish 30 ministries and outreaches in ten nations of the world. Dr. Williams has direct oversight of multiple congregations both in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He was consecrated as the Overseer of the New England Diocese, with national responsibilities, of the Covenant Ecumenical Fellowship, under the leadership of the Most Reverend Donald Hilliard II. With a prophetic Grace and a passion for His Presence, Dr. Williams seeks to support other leaders as they pursue the advancement of the Kingdom of God in their area. He is the loving father to teenage girls, Joy Victoria and Grace Noelle.
